Reseña del libro "Hyperspeed: Maximum Torque (en Inglés)"

For Destiny Fox, life ended as a black smear on a canyon wall. No one heard her scream as her body crumbled, ripped apart under the force of the impact, or the deafening roar of her Hyper-cam 5000 sonic racer bursting apart, when the engines exploded. It was all to simple--Destiny Fox was dead at the age of twenty-seven. It was just too bad no one seemed to remember her death, or that she ever existed, not even Destiny Fox herself. In a way, life began again in that breathtaking, bone chilling microsecond, when Destiny Fox was given a second chance at life. As she walked up to the winner's circle and watched her rival Chaz McFadden take her place in the history books, something changed in Destiny. Call it a sixth sense or a precognition, or just plain intuition; no matter, to Destiny it was real. Her life had passed before her eyes, she had relived the crash, saw her fiery end then it was gone, erased as if it never happened. A twist of fate, perhaps. No one really knew, not even the dark haired beauty herself could remember. As a result, Destiny looked on the world through deep green eyes and uttered not a sound through her ruby red lips. Instead, she vanished; only to return three days later. It was then that life began again. The hypercar circuit was a fast pace, high energy spectacle, where fast cars and beautiful women were the name of the game. Chaz McFadden rose to the top in just three short races and, now, at the dawn of her next triumph, ready to add another notch to her belt. At the Delusions Inn, a dingy, poorly lit, smoke filled pilot's hangout, Destiny sized up her competition, ready to rock and roll. Remembering Chaz McFadden was once her best friend, Destiny recalled a different time, reliving a memory of the past. Chaz on the other hand, saw Destiny as a threat, and welcomed the challenge she represented. At the beginning of the next race, Destiny stole the lime light from Chaz McFadden, arriving in a futuristic, Hyper-cam racer; then, as the race got under way, Destiny and Chaz rekindled an old rivalry that ended in the crash of Chaz McFadden's racer. Chaz was whisked away by emergency medical services in a rush to save her life, while Destiny went on to win the race, stealing her rival's thunder, if not her life. Returning home after the hospital stay, Chaz McFadden discovered life as she knew it was over. Her injuries would keep her off the racing circuit for at least the rest of the season, if not the next year. What was worse, Destiny Fox had a clear shot at the top, and that was something that troubled the blond haired competitor. Her title was at stake. As a result of her injuries, Chaz McFadden had lost everything, including her boyfriend, James Nuland. She was finished without putting up a fight; at least, until she saw Destiny Fox's TV interview with her old flame on Nine Alive, a local talk show. Destiny claimed Chaz McFadden's crash wasn't her fault, and that if she hadn't pitched out when she did, she would have died twice. The host saw it as an opportunity to issue a challenge, claiming Destiny Fox was on her way to the top. At the shows end, the last race replayed in segments, leaving Chaz McFadden crazy jealous, then angry, and finally down right mad. She struggled with her own inner conflicts, then as a new flame began to burn in her heart, she vowed to return to the racing circuit and life. Building a new car, Chaz McFadden returned to the basics, looking up an old family friend who agreed, after a bit of persuading, to build her a new, faster hyper-cam racer. Bringing spirit back into Chaz's life, Jason Armstrong demanded the car he was to build be the best. No short cuts, no expense spared. The very best! Chaz McFadden agreed, not only for safety, but because of her belief in him. Awakened in a nightmare, Chaz relieves the fiery end to the race that killed Destiny Fox. "It's not possible!"
