The dream becomes a nightmare as they are unwittingly entangled in a brutal web of retribution for Quinterra's sons, murder, and deceit which takes them from peaceful Upstate New York, to the serene and later blood soaked forests of Montana. As they struggle for psychological as well as physical survival, Sam and Carl find their strengths, the limits of their friendship and unconditional love.
