Jayla grew up in a dysfunctional home with an alcoholic father and a mother with a gambling addiction. Dreams shattered, Jayla rebelled and turned to the streets of inner-city Chicago. Seduced by the money and danger of the drug world, by the time Jayla is 17, she's selling elicit drugs. Now she was trapped in a destructive culture of illegal business, teen pregnancy, and being a single mother. Desperate to make ends meet, she enlists the help of a childhood friend who ends up being the man she would love more than life itself, who would ultimately be her undoing. Years later, even moving to Vegas to escape the unhealthy relationship proved not to be far enough. In spite of the unimaginable indignities, infidelities, and emotional trauma suffered at his hands, Jayla was still ride or die for her man. Indicted on federal charges of drug trafficking, she refuses to testify against Terrence though he's turned on her to save himself.
