This collection of short stories and poems will make you cry, laugh and get upset to the breaking point of wanting to slap you mama and daddy at the same time.Writing poems and short stories is the only time I feel completely free. Instead of hitting somebody upside the head I can hitem up with the club of my pen, or expose the folly of celebrities and politicians. Lampooning is the name of the game and nobody is safe from the comedic wrath of Dre. But life has its up and downs and not everything I write is a joke.My poems and short stories deal with a variety of issues like drug abuse, rape, crime and punishment, religious and political oppression just to name a few. For the past 16 years I've been writing poems and short stories. The last years I've been a substitute teacher passing on some of these poems and stories. The students have been something like a meteorological assessment telling me which stories are hot and which ones are cold. Based on their opinions, surveys and evaluations I've compiled and present "My Poemology"The one I loved writing the most was Pen Pals, a story about a lawyer trying to free a convicted felon. One of my short stories, Pimps No More, got me disinvited to come and sub for one school district. I didn't know that praising virginity and condemning the pimp life would be reviewed so negatively. I've learned writing can be viewed very subjective by some in power running around acting like their tyrants. I thought I was in a community school trying to boost up the reading comprehension of disadvantage youth, not in an adjunct parochial Sunday school church. But, anyway, one person's trash novel is another's light bulb beam of enlightenment. I've edited out 7 short stories and some poems to reduce the size of the book into a more popular size.My poems and short stories are divided up into three sections of 1. Love, sensuality and entertainment. 2nd. Political struggles, and thirdly Religion and spirituality.Get on your safety belt and safety glasses and get ready for the very best of Dre's selective writings, poems and short stories in the compilation of My Poemology.
