The book is based on the English language used in treatment with limited English proficiency (LEP) Haitian patient. In the United States, there are individuals with limited English proficiency. In the past few years, there are a lot of changes that happened in the United States due to the growing numbers of people that entering a new country to settle permanently to the United States. However, this demographic shift is significantly affecting healthcare systems as well as the delivery of substance abuse and mental health services.The language barrier is a fact for many Haitian immigrants in the United States. Limited English Proficiency (LEP) is another barrier to health care that is connected with a poor health condition in diverse populations including ethnic groups. The purpose of this study is to describe the professional therapeutic experiences of English-speaking therapists working with LEP Haitians population and to gain a better understanding of the participants' professional experiences. It aims to better understand clinical experiences of English- speaking therapists who work with LEP Haitian population in treatment for substance abuse or management of a mental disorder. The method used is not only intended to recognize therapists' professional experiences as valid but to also validate the importance of the language phenomenon among those experiences as described by individuals.
