This book on water management in industry ia a modest effort to bring awareness of this vital subject to engineers and technicians working in various industries for the conservation of this scarce resource essentially required for the economic development of the country and for improving the quality of life of people in general. Conservation of water and prevention of pollution of natural sources of water should be a concern for all, especially in the arid climate of India with limited water resources and ever-increasing water demand in all sectors of its use. A viable scheme for the collection and treatment of rainwater falling on the vast area of plant premises has been included in the book to augment the available water resources of the plant, an area which has so far been neglected by planners and designers. Further, the book describes comprehensive techniques for the implementation of zero-discharge of effluents from the plant premises by reclaiming usable water using appropriate technology for reuse in the plant operation as well as for prevention of pollution of natural sources of water. Data and information included in the book would provide ready aid to the engineers and technicians working in water management of the industry in general. The book written in lucid language is comprehendible to the lay population as well.
