This is the memoir of a woman raised in poverty in the 1960's on the streets of Manhattan's lower east side. Her mother, a heroine addict, often absent, leaving Marisa to navigate life on her own. She grew up and became a New York City Police Officer and documents her historic law-suit against the top ranking commander of the NYPD based on years of sexual harassment. She continued patrolling in the worst neighborhoods in NYC after her lawsuit and helped change the future for other women in the department.
