You need a dress that can do what?" demanded the perplexed dress store owner, running out of the back room with a needle and thread still in hand. With that question, the tale of the traveling dress began. When Jennifer and Jeff Salvage decided to get married in the most remote, inhabited place in the world, Easter Island, they knew they needed a dress that could be stuffed in and out of a backpack without primping. Considering the dress was flown over 7,000 miles, driven across an isolated island, and hand-carried up a sacred volcano crater in route to our wedding ceremony, it held up wonderfully. Of course, "holding up" for Jennifer was a little more difficult than the traditional bride who doesn't don the dress again after her wedding day. When Jeff kindly requested Jennifer to wear it to be photographed under different lighting conditions and various locations around the island to get that "iconic image" she was unaware of where it would lead. "Be careful the innocent indulgences you make early in your relationship" warns Jennifer as they can become rituals fairly quickly. The three photo shoots on Easter Island now seem like a walk in the park. Since they started on their journey 11 years ago, there have been many imitators, but they are the original and longest lasting. With the growth of their love, so has their adventure. Photo shoots have gotten more exotic, but it's the relationships they've forged along the way that are the true treasures.
